The 1st Amateur League Southwest 1972/73 was the 26th season of the 1st Amateur League and the 21st season after the merging of the seasons Rheinhessen , Vorderpfalz and Westpfalz . As in the previous year, the championship was won by SG Eintracht Kreuznach , which this time successfully competed and was able to advance to the Regionalliga Südwest . The clubs FV Dudenhofen and FSV Schifferstadt were relegated to the 2nd amateur league. The amateurs of FK Pirmasens and SV Horchheim had come up in the league . The teams took seventh and eighth place respectively.

VfR Frankenthal , who was relegated from the Regionalliga Südwest in 1972 , finished fourth.
