The Ludwigshafener Sport Club 1925 is a sports club from Ludwigshafen am Rhein , which includes football , jazz dance , Zumba and yoga . Along with BSC Oppau and FSV Oggersheim , it is the only football club in the city of Ludwigshafen that plays at a higher level at times, which has never been part of the large south-west Ludwigshafen club , and one of the few old clubs that have never merged with others since they were founded. In the 1960s, the LSC soccer team played for several years in the Oberliga Südwest and Regionalliga Südwest .
history
The club was founded on October 19, 1925 as the general sports club Hochfeld 1925 . It has had its current name since May 11, 1957.
After four years in the third-class amateur league Vorderpfalz, the Hochfelder rose to the 2nd Southwest League in 1951. After relegation in 1957, the red and white made the leap into the league within two years. After its dissolution, the LSC was sorted into the second-class Regionalliga Südwest in 1963.
In 1966 and after the rise again in 1968, the Ludwigshafener rose from the Amateur League Southwest, to which they belonged with the exception of the 1976/77 season until they were discontinued. The LSC was not accepted into the new amateur league in 1978. Since then, the club has played in the lower amateur classes.
The men's team of the LSC has been playing in the sixth class Verbandsliga Südwest since the 2008/09 season, in which they finished 9th in the table as a promoted team. The LSC is currently more successful in youth football. The C- and A-Juniors play in the second-class Regionalliga Südwest, and thus higher-class than the local competitors Südwest Ludwigshafen (fourth class) and FSV Oggersheim (moved up to third class in 2006). In the meantime, the Ludwigshafener SC was trained by the former Bundesliga professional Hermann Kohlenbrenner , who completed ten first division games for the Karlsruher SC in the 1980/81 season.
In the 2015/16 season, the LSC occupied the penultimate 15th place in the table. In terms of sport, the team would have been relegated to the national league. Since SVN Zweibrücken , which withdrew the Oberliga team from play during the current round, did not register a team for the Association League for the 2016/17 season, the Ludwigshafeners remained a member of the Association League Southwest. Two years later, however, the club rose as the table penultimate of the association league in the seventh class national league. In the following 2018/19 season, the Ludwigshafeners were also knocked off last in the state league and thus relegated to the district league Vorderpfalz.
