Maximilian Mehring (born April 15, 1986 in Worms ) is a former German soccer player . Since the end of his playing career, he has been working as a coach and is currently active as an assistant coach at SV Waldhof Mannheim .

Career

Mehring joined the SC Freiburg youth team in 2002 from Ludwigshafener SC . In 2005 he moved up to the 2nd team, was with them in 2008 league champions and rose to the Regionalliga Süd .

Mehring signed a professional contract as early as 2007, but did not make any competitive appearances in the professional team in his first season. The midfielder made his debut in the 2nd Bundesliga on September 14, 2008 in a 3-1 win over FC Augsburg . His contract was not extended after Freiburg's promotion to the 1st Bundesliga .

In October 2009 Mehring moved to the regional soccer team SV Darmstadt 98 in the Regionalliga Süd . From July 2010 he played for the 2nd team of Eintracht Frankfurt . His contract there was terminated prematurely at the end of November 2012.

In January 2013, the regional league team Wormatia Worms announced the commitment of Mehring. He signed a contract until the end of the 2012/13 season. After only seven games for the Wormats, Mehring suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in April 2013 , which left him out for the rest of the year. Nevertheless, the club extended his contract until 2015. After he had to end his active career due to the injury, he took over the post of assistant coach from the 2015/16 season . On July 30, 2020, he moved to SV Waldhof Mannheim in the same role .
