The Ballspielclub 1914 Oppau is a football club from Ludwigshafen-Oppau . The BSC men's team plays in the eight-class district league Vorderpfalz Gruppe Nord in the 2013/14 season. In the 1960s, the Oppauer played for several years in the Ober- and Regionalliga Südwest .
Club history
The club was founded on April 1, 1914 as the 1914 Oppau football company . On May 27, 1937, the footballers merged with the Turnerbund Germania 1889 Oppau , TV Edigheim and the Ring- und Stemmclub Oppau to form TSG 1889 Oppau . In the 1942/43 season, TSG Oppau played in the top division, the Gauliga Westmark , but rose again immediately as the penultimate. From September 30, 1943, the major club formed a war game community with TSG Ludwigshafen and VfL Friesenheim , KSG Ludwigshafen also played in the Gauliga Westmark in the 1943/44 season . With the end of the Second World War, all sports clubs were initially dissolved.
On May 16, 1946, the club, newly founded in the previous year in the form of TSG 1889, but under the name General Sports Club 1945 Oppau, was approved by the Allies. In 1948 the gymnasts and athletes split off again. The association has had its current name since August 4, 1950.
Sporting development
The Oppauer first attracted attention during the Gauliga times. In 1934 they took part in the promotion round to the Gauliga for the first time, but only finished second and missed the promotion. The second attempt in 1942 was successful.
After the war, the league was first made in 1948 , from which the Oppauer relegated after two years. After three years in the amateur league and eight seasons in the second division, the BSC rose again in 1961 to the major league. Through the 1961/62 season , Ludwigshafen is the only German city, along with the major cities of Berlin (with its own city league ) and Hamburg , that had four first division clubs at the same time after the Second World War: In addition to the Oppauer Phönix and TuRa Ludwigshafen and the Ludwigshafener SC .
In the upper league, the Oppauer managed to stay up twice. In 1963 they were taken over in the newly founded Regionalliga Südwest , from which they were relegated after three years.
From 1966 to 1970 and from 1973 to 1975 the BSC played in the third-rate amateur league Southwest, with only fourth-rate in between. After relegated in 1975 they did not manage to return to a higher league. The season 2010/2011 finished the men's team of the BSC as champions of the district class (Vorderpfalz) North and thus plays from the season 2011/2012 in the eight-class district league Vorderpfalz. For the 2015/16 season, the club rose to the Landesliga Ost, from which it was relegated back to the district league in the 2017/18 season.
