TuRa 1882 Ludwigshafen was a German sports club from the Hemshof district of the city of Ludwigshafen am Rhein . It was created on May 20, 1938 from the merger of the clubs MTV 1882 Ludwigshafen , SC Germania Ludwigshafen and Ludwigshafener FG 03 . In 1964 the club merged with SV Phönix 03 Ludwigshafen to form SV Südwest Ludwigshafen .
history
The idea of founding a large Ludwigshafen club came from the Ludwigshafen FG on December 4, 1937. In previous years, there had already been considerations of merging the clubs in the north of the city into one large club. In three meetings it was decided unanimously to establish a large association in Ludwigshafen-Nord. The representatives of the clubs MTV 1882 Ludwigshafen and SC Germania Ludwigshafen were invited to a meeting on January 8, 1938, at which the merger was unanimously approved. After the names and colors were voted in further meetings , the founding event of the newly formed TuRa Ludwigshafen association took place on May 20, 1938 .
After the formation of the Gauliga Westmark in 1941, TuRa Ludwigshafen rose from the district class to this. The first season ended in fourth place, just behind local rivals TSG 1861 Ludwigshafen . In 1942/43 the club was sixth, in the last Gauliga season 1943/44 fifth. In the final phase of the war, 2/3 of the sports facility was destroyed in January and February 1945. After the Second World War , TuRa was not taken into account for the football league in 1945/46 , as only one club was allowed from each city. Instead, the club played in the Landesliga Vorderpfalz . In 1949/50 the club reached the championship of the state league and thus rose to the football league in 1950/51 . After several years in the Oberliga Südwest, in which mostly midfield placements were achieved, Ludwigshafen rose in 1955/56 as the last place in the II. Division . Already in the coming season he immediately rose again with a second place. In the 1960/61 season and in the 1961/62 season , when local rival Phönix Ludwigshafen was relegated, TuRa was number one in Ludwigshafen, but was soon overtaken by Ludwigshafener SC .
When the Bundesliga was introduced in 1963, TuRa Ludwigshafen was not taken into account. From then on, the club played in the second -rate regional soccer league Southwest . In the hope of achieving the Bundesliga through a merger and pooling of forces, TuRa Ludwigshafen merged with Phönix Ludwigshafen to form southwest Ludwigshafen on May 29, 1964 .
