The 1st Soccer Amateur League Southwest 1960/61 was the 9th season of the third class 1st amateur league in regional men's soccer in the southern part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and a predecessor of the Soccer Association Southwest . The 1st Amateur League Southwest was formed in 1952 by amalgamating the amateur leagues Rheinhessen , West Palatinate and Front Palatinate and existed until the 1977/78 season as the third highest league. After the introduction of the Oberliga Südwest in 1978 as the highest amateur league, the league was renamed "Verbandsliga Südwest" and was only fourth class from that point on.

The championship was won by 1. FC Sobernheim , who also won the promotion round to the II. Southwest Division and qualified as a Southwest German amateur champion for promotion and participation in the German amateur football championship . In the semifinals, Sobernheim failed against the amateurs of Holstein Kiel with 2: 5 n.V.
Alemannia Worms had to go to the 2nd amateur league because they lost the game against VfR Baumholder with the same number of points . For the following season 1961/62 came from the 2nd amateur leagues as promoted 1. FC Idar and TuS Altrip .
