The VfR Friesenheim is a football club in Friesenheim , a district of Ludwigshafen in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate . The club played for several years in the former third-class 1st Amateur League Southwest .
history
Beginning until 1945
The association was founded in 1905 under the name Britania . In 1919 they merged with Germania 06 to form VfR Friesenheim . Another merger followed in 1928 with the Union 07 to form the then newly named ASV Friesenheim . In 1938 all Ludwigshafen sports clubs were forced to merge, as a result of which the ASV , TV Friesenheim , TG Friesenheim , the cycling club and the wrestling club became what is now called VfL Friesenheim . From September 1943, the association then formed together with the BSC Oppau and TSG Ludwigshafen the wargame community Ludwigshafen . In the same season the community also played in the Gauliga Westmark and finished there in 7th place at the end of the season. After the game operations ceased at the end of the Second World War, a gaming community was founded in 1945 under the name VfR Friesenheim .
Prime time in the 1st amateur league
From the former football and handball department of the old VfL , a new, independent club called SV Friesenheim emerged . The football department was grouped into the national league. In the 1947/48 season , they finished 11th there, but one season later it was already fourth. In the following seasons there was always a placement either in the upper part of the table or close to relegation. After the last season of the league, the club qualified with fourth place for the new single-track 1st Amateur League Southwest. Also in 1951, the football department was separated from SV Friesenheim and re-established in VfR Friesenheim . After the first season in the new league, the team even managed to qualify for the promotion round to the II. Division , but in the Southwest group it was only enough for fourth place, which did not qualify for promotion. In the 1956/57 season you reached the league for the first time the championship, but did not take part in the promotion round, from which Hassia Bingen then profited . After the 1962/63 season, he was relegated to the 2nd amateur league .
Decline to this day
In 1966 followed the relegation to the A-Class North in which the club played until the relegation in 1975 to the B-Class Ludwigshafen . In 1980, however, the promotion to the A-Class North was celebrated again. Which was followed by a descent to the B-Class Ludwigshafen in 1984. Another five years later, in 1989, there was renewed promotion to the A-Class North. In 2008, the team relegated to the district league A, but in the 2008/09 season, the direct promotion to the district class north worked . After the 2012/13 season, it went third in the A-Class Rhine-Palatinate . After the 2018/19 season he was able to qualify for the promotion games to the district league Vorderpfalz. There, however, all games were lost and the table left without points.
