The VfL Alemannia Worms is a football club based in Worms , which had its heyday in the late 1920s and early 1930s.

The Alemanni originated in 1905 when the football department of the Rugby and Lawn Tennis Club Worms , founded in 1895, split up under the name FC Alemannia 05 Worms . Under the name VfR Alemannia 05 , the Worms were a fixture in the first-class district and later district league.

In 1920 the Alemannia was runner-up behind the 1. Mainz FSV 05 in the Hessen district league, in 1921 they won the district championship, but failed in the regional finals. After the 1923/24 round , the team rose again, with the return to the district league two years later for the 1926/27 season, the Alemanni established themselves in the shadow of their big neighbor VfR Wormatia in the safe midfield of the eight to ten clubs in the district league.

As third in the previous district league season, the black and white merged shortly before with FV Olympia 1915 to VfR Alemannia-Olympia 05 should not originally be transferred to the new top division, the Gauliga Südwest , in 1933 . Due to the successful protest of fourth place SV Wiesbaden against its failure to consider the league designed for ten clubs, the Worms were nominated in addition to the SVW. After the first Gauliga season, the "United", as the club was called at the time, rose from bottom of the table, together with the Wiesbadeners.

Until 1939, the "United", from which FC Blau-Weiß had separated in 1933 as the successor to FV Olympia, remained in the lower class. At the beginning of the war they were affiliated to the Gauligist Reichsbahn TSV Wormatia Worms , which was created in 1938 , the merger of Wormatia and the Reichsbahn TuSV Jahn Schwarz-Weiß . After the end of the war, the artifact was dissolved. In 1946 (one year after Wormatia) today's VfL Alemannia 05 was re-established.

Alemannia did not play a major role in the post-war period. From 1947 to 1950, 1951/52, 1956 to 1962 and 1965 to 1967, the Worms played in the third-class amateur league, which was reformed several times. On July 1, 2002, VfL Alemannia 05 Worms merged with the soccer gymnastics club from 1901 (FT 01 Worms) to form FT Alemannia 2002 Worms and currently plays (as of the 2016/17 season) in the 11th class C-Class Worms.
