The 1st Soccer Amateur League Southwest 1959/60 was the 8th season of the third class 1st amateur league in regional men's soccer in the southern part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and a predecessor of the Soccer Association League Southwest . The 1st Amateur League Southwest was formed in 1952 by amalgamating the amateur leagues Rheinhessen , West Palatinate and Front Palatinate and existed until the 1977/78 season as the third highest league. After the introduction of the Oberliga Südwest in 1978 as the highest amateur league, the league was renamed "Verbandsliga Südwest" and was only fourth class from that point on.

The championship won the amateurs of 1. FC Kaiserslautern . Since these were not eligible for promotion, the FSV Schifferstadt was allowed to participate as runner-up in the promotion round to the II. Southwest Division and was able to qualify for promotion. Since the promotion round was also the southwest German amateur championship, master Kaiserslautern took part in the games. The games with Kaiserslautern participation were not taken into account to determine the promoted players. Kaiserslautern won this round and took part as a southwest German amateur champion in the German amateur soccer championship , where they failed in the semifinals against the West German title holder BV Osterfeld with 0-2.
The VfL Iggelheim and the SC West Kaiserslautern had to descend to the 2nd Amateur League. For the following season 1960/61 came from the 2nd amateur leagues as promoted SC Hauenstein and FVgg Mombach , as well as relegated ASV Landau from the II. Division.
