The BV Osterfeld (full name: Ballspielverein Osterfeld 1919 eV ) is a sports club from the Oberhausen district Osterfeld . The club played for a year in the then second-class II. Division and was German runner-up in 1960 for amateurs .
history
The association based in the Stemmersberg settlement was founded in 1919 as Germania Osterfeld and changed its name first to BV Klosterhardt and then to BV Osterfeld . Between 1944 and 1945 the club formed a war syndicate with the game association Sterkrade 06/07 , which was called KSG Osterfeld-Sterkrade .
The sporting upswing began with the annual general meeting in 1947, when the stonemason Arnold Germar took over the chairmanship of the association. In 1950 the A-Jugend became West German runner -up after a final defeat against Union Gelsenkirchen . In 1954 the BVO rose to the state league, two years later to the Niederrhein association league . With a two-point lead over VfB Lohberg , Osterfeld became the Niederrhein champions in 1960 .
In the subsequent round of promotion to the second division, BVO prevailed against the clubs BV Selm and Baesweiler 09 and made it to the second highest division. In addition, the Osterfelder qualified for the German amateur championship , where BVO beat the amateurs of 1. FC Kaiserslautern 2-0 in the semi-finals. In the final, the Oberhausen team met the amateurs of Hannover 96 in Herford's Jahnstadion . The game ended 1-1 after extra time .
Since there was no penalty shoot-out at that time, a replay was played three days later in Herford, which Hannover won 3-0. In the second division season 1960/61 , however, BVO had no chance and rose twelve points behind on a non-relegation place. After three years in the association league, BVO had to return to the regional league in 1964. Although the immediate resurgence succeeded, the team was only able to stay in the association league until 1968.
In 1974 BVO was relegated to the district league and lost its supremacy in Osterfeld football to local rivals SV Adler . After relegation in 2014, BVO entered the district league C, the lowest division, for three years. Since 2017 they have been playing Kreisliga B.
