The BV Selm (officially: Ballverein 1919 Selm eV ) was a sports club from Selm in the Unna district . The first soccer team played for 17 years in the highest Westphalian amateur league.

history

The club was founded in 1919 and in 1953 made it into the third-class Landesliga Westfalen . Three years later , the Selmer qualified for the newly created Association League Westphalia and in 1958 reached third place in season 1 behind SpVgg Erkenschwick and Arminia Bielefeld . After the team barely managed to avoid relegation a year later , the Selmer 1960 champions of their season. In the finals of the Westphalia Championship, BVS prevailed with a 2-1 win in the playoff against SSV Hagen . This was followed by the promotion round to the II. Division West , where the Selmer managed the promotion as second behind BV Osterfeld and in front of SV Baesweiler 09 . However, the club waived.

In the following years BV Selm remained a top team in the association league and came third in 1962 , 1964 and 1965 . At the end of the 1960s things went downhill in terms of sport. Relegation to the regional league in 1970 was followed by relegation to the district league a year later. In the 1977/78 season, the Selmer returned for a year in the state league before relegation to the district league A in 1982. Between 1982 and 1985 and in the 1997/98 season, the Selmer played again in the district league, while otherwise the Lüdinghausen district league A became the sporting home of the team.

Successor club SG Selm

In 2010, BV Selm merged with Grün-Weiß Selm , who produced two professionals with Lukas Nottbeck and Theo Schneider , to form SG Selm , which played in the Lüdinghausen district league A and came third there in 2014. After the Lüdinghausen soccer district was dissolved in 2015, the club moved to the Münster soccer district.
