Theo Schneider grew up in Selm and began his football career with Grün-Weiß Selm there. He began his professional career in 1978 at Borussia Dortmund , from there he moved to 1. FC Nürnberg in 1982 . Shortly after the beginning of the 1983/84 season , Schneider was awarded to Rot-Weiß Oberhausen . He stayed there until his move to 1. FC Saarbrücken at the beginning of the 1986/87 season . After two seasons, Theo Schneider then moved to VfR Sölde before signing a contract with Arminia Bielefeld in 1992 . During the 1993/94 season he ended his career as an active footballer.

Schneider played a total of 74 Bundesliga games in which he scored seven goals (6 for BVB, 1 for 1. FC Nürnberg), as well as 157 second division games (36 goals).

Trainer

Theo Schneider began his coaching career on February 1, 1994 with Arminia Bielefeld in the then Oberliga Westfalen . Later he looked after the A-Juniors of his home club Borussia Dortmund , where he coached the second team from 2004. In May 2009 he was promoted to the third division with BVB II . A season later he was relegated with the second team, because it was only enough for 18th place in the table. For the 2010/11 season, many top performers left BVB's reserve to switch to lucrative clubs in the 2nd or 3rd league. Schneider faced a rebuilding in the Regionalliga West.

Theo Schneider had been under contract with Rot-Weiß Oberhausen since February 23, 2011 , where he took over the position of Hans-Günter Bruns . From the 2011/12 season he had to play with Oberhausen in the 3rd division, as he could not stay up in the previous season and he only finished 17th in the table with RWO. However, the board also announced that RWO would only be concerned with staying up in the 3rd division, because the financial resources were simply too low. After a poor start to the season, Schneider was released from his duties at RWO on October 4, 2011.

On November 21, 2012 he took over the post of head coach at the relegation-threatened regional league club SC Wiedenbrück 2000 . As the successor to Markus Reiter , he signed a contract until the end of June 2015. However, Theo Schneider had terminated this contract at the end of 2014 and took over the junior division of the Hungarian record champion Ferencváros Budapest on January 7, 2015 .
