In 1951, SG 05 Pirmasens was one of the founding members of the II. Southwest Division, the second contract player class below the Southwest Football League , and achieved the best placement in the 1951/52 season with fourth place. There followed a few years in the middle of the table before the team in 1956 relegated penultimate to third division. In 1963, he was relegated from the Southwest Amateur League and in 1968 from the 2nd Amateur League West Palatinate.

In the mid-1970s, the club returned to higher leagues. In 1977 the team rose again to the Amateur League Southwest, but missed the qualification for the newly created Oberliga Südwest . For the 1980/81 season, SG 05 qualified for the DFB Cup . In the first round, the team was eliminated after an 8-0 defeat against TSV 1860 Munich .

In 1982 the SG 05 rose from the Association League Southwest and was immediately passed through to the District League. Between 1985 and 1992 the SG played again in the district league. Since then, the association has only operated at the district level.
