history

Football at ASV Landau

The BfL Landau , which was a founding member of the ASV on April 26, 1946, was created in 1933 through the merger of the Landau clubs VfR 1919 , Sportfreunde , FV 1912 and Post SV . Like these forerunners, the BfL played no role in national football, but was Gaumeister 1943 in field handball and thus a participant in the final round of the German championship. Here, however, the team was eliminated in the first round against LSV Strasbourg.

It was only after the founding of the ASV in 1949 that the footballers rose to the top division for the first time, at that time the Oberliga Südwest-Nord . In 1951 the Landauer descended, in 1953 again on, and a year later again. In 1960 the ASV even had to leave the 2nd League Southwest as bottom of the table.

In the 1963 newly founded Regionalliga Südwest , the club rose as the penultimate and only reached promotion from the third division in 1969 .

The most successful phase of Landau football began when the department entered into a partnership with the Gummi-Mayer company in July 1970 and from then on appeared as Gummi Mayer Landau in the ASV . The footballers played four years in the regional league and had to relegate to the amateur league because of the establishment of the 2nd Bundesliga in 1974 and to the association league because of the establishment of the amateur upper league in 1978. Both times the Landau had secured relegation by reaching midfield positions. In 1979, Gummi Mayer ended the collaboration.

After relegation from the regional league, the Landau took part in the DFB Cup twice. In 1974/75 they beat FV Loerrach 2-1 away before they lost 2-0 to FC Augsburg . A year later, Hannover 96 visited the Südpfälzisches Stadion and won 7-1.

In the 2009/10 season, the ASV footballers rose as the bottom of the table in the seventh-class Landesliga Ost of the Southwest German Football Association in the district league Vorderpfalz. In this division, too, the ASV was knocked off bottom of the table in the 2010/11 season, so that since the 2011/12 season he has been playing in the ninth-class A-class Südpfalz (formerly district class Vorderpfalz).

Since March 4, 2010, the football department has been officially called the football club in ASV Landau e. V. In 2017 the game was stopped due to bankruptcy. The football club in ASV Landau was an independent club, the situation of which has nothing to do with ASV 1946 Landau.
