Reiner Edelmann (born March 19, 1965 in Bellheim ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Edelmann played in Phönix Bellheim's youth before moving to SV Waldhof Mannheim . Edelmann did not succeed in making the leap from youth to professional at Waldhof, he only played two Bundesliga games in two and a half years . In January 1986 he moved to SV 98 Schwetzingen in the association league, rose directly to the upper league, where he played for a year and then dared to jump into the Bundesliga again. He signed on with FC Schalke 04 . With the squires, who were trained by Rolf Schafstall at that time , he was a regular player. That didn't change when the coach changed to Horst Franz . The 1987/88 season ended disappointingly for Edelmann and his teammates like Olaf Thon , Michael Klinkert and Toni Schumacher , they finished last and were relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga . There the attacker played the following two years, in which the hoped-for resurgence failed. He then moved to league rivals Prussia Münster . Münster had just been promoted to the second division, Edelmann was the most successful goalscorer of his team with eight goals ahead of Ulrich Gäher . At the end of the season, SC Prussia ended up in mid-league. Edelmann and Munster parted ways after one season and he played for a year in Belgium , in the first division with KV Kortrijk . Edelmann returned to Germany and from then on played in the amateur field at VfR Mannheim , Eintracht Trier , TuS Koblenz , SV Weingarten / Pfalz 1946 and ASV Landau .
