Okypus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Okypus ( ancient Greek Ὠκύρους "quick foot ") is an ancient Greek tragic comedy that was published under the name of Lukians in the 4th century. Akakios of Kaisareia is believed to be the author of the pseudo-Lukian work .

The 173-verse piece alludes to Lukian's Podagra , in which the disease of the same name , a painful gout attack of the foot, is discussed in a sarcastic way . The protagonist Okypus is presented as a handsome and athletic man who loves hunting and sports. Those who are restricted in their movements because of Podagra are mocked by him. As a punishment for this, he is also attacked by the disease, which, like Lukian, appears as a deified person.
