Ulrich Gäher (born January 6, 1962 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

The offensive midfielder Ulrich Gäher began his career at SpVg Emsdetten 05 and moved to the upper division ASC Schöppingen in the mid-1980s . With the ASC, Gäher became champions of the Oberliga in 1986, but the Schöppinger failed in the subsequent round of promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga at FC St. Pauli and Rot-Weiss Essen . A year later, Gäher moved to Preußen Münster and became the top scorer in the Oberliga Westfalen with 27 goals. The Prussians were superior with 54: 6 points champions, but failed in the promotion round.

In 1989 the people of Münster were able to defend their title on the last match day and made the leap into the 2nd Bundesliga in the following round of promotion. Ulrich Gäher made his debut on July 29, 1989 in the 2-0 defeat of the Prussians at Hertha BSC . With 13 goals this season he was the most successful goalscorer of his team. In the following season 1990/91 Gäher met only four times and had to leave the 2nd Bundesliga down with his team. In total, Gäher played 62 second division games and scored 17 goals. After relegation, Gäher moved to Munster's arch-rival Arminia Bielefeld , for whom he scored a goal in 15 league games before ending his career.

In 2005 Ulrich Gäher was sports director and member of the executive committee at Preußen Münster for a few months. After coach Colin Bell was dismissed in November 2005, Gäher resigned from all offices. Gäher works as a self-employed physiotherapist .
