Christian Kroll

Christian Kroll (born September 27, 1943 in Ober Bellmannsdorf , Lauban district ) is a German church music director , choir teacher and organist .

Life

Kroll grew up in Passau after the end of the war . His first organ teacher was Walther R. Schuster . From 1962 to 1971 he studied school music at the Munich University of Music and graduated with the state examination for artistic teaching at grammar schools, for Protestant church music and for organ.

From 1968 he was cantor at the Evangelical Lutheran St. Andrew's Church in Munich- Fürstenried , where he gave an anniversary concert in September 2013 to mark its 50th anniversary. During this period he also worked as an organist, harpsichordist and répétiteur with the Munich Philharmonic . In Munich he taught organ and Protestant church music at the Munich-Pasing University of Education , as well as organ, liturgy , hymnology and music education at the Richard Strauss Conservatory .

In 1978 he was appointed city and district cantor to Regensburg. In 1981 he was awarded the title of church music director. From 1978 to 2008 he directed the oratorio choir and the Raselius choir of the Regensburg Cantorei , which he founded and the main performance location of which is the Dreieinigkeitskirche . In 1983 he also took over the direction of the University Choir of the University of Regensburg from Rudolf Schindler , which he conducted until 2008. Under his direction, the university choir developed into a concert choir and had around 100 members in the 1988/89 winter semester. Kroll worked with the Symfonický orchestr hlavního města Prahy FOK , the Nuremberg and Munich Symphony Orchestra . In addition to concert tours to other European countries and to Israel , his choirs have made numerous radio and television recordings. In 1994 the university choir was awarded the “Pro Arte” university foundation's cultural prize and in 2007 the city of Regensburg's cultural sponsorship prize. During the Pope's visit to Bavaria in 2006, the choir was responsible for the musical design of Benedict XVI's lecture . that he held while attending university.

Kroll gave his farewell concert on May 31, 2008 in the Auditorium Maximum of the Regensburg University. Church music director Roman Emilius took over the leadership of the university choir in the 2009 summer semester .
