An oratorio choir is a choir that has set itself the task of studying and playing oratorios . An oratorio choir is usually set up with four parts in the voices soprano, alto, tenor and bass, but also works with five and six voices in large oratorios, masses and passions ; in some works also double and multi-choir. Large oratorios of the Romantic and Modern periods in particular call for a strong choir capable of filling larger concert halls and churches with sound. A further requirement is that an oratorio choir can appear equally alongside an orchestra with a symphonic line-up . An oratorio choir is usually much larger in number than a chamber choir .
