The TSC Zweibrücken is a German football club from Zweibrücken .

history

The TSC Zweibrücken goes back on the one hand to the TV 1889 Bubenhausen founded in 1889 , in which a football department was created in 1921. This broke away in 1928 under the name Spielvereinigung Bubenhausen from the club and merged in May 1948 with the BSC Zweibrücken-Ernstweiler , which emerged from the TV 1891 Ernstweiler , to form SC Zweibrücken. In 1947, the team was one of the founding members of the Landesliga Westpfalz. In 1951, TV 1889 Bubenhausen joined the club, which then gave itself its current name. In the same year, the club rose as second in the table in the amateur league in the newly created 2nd Oberliga Südwest . There he established himself and achieved fourth places in 1953 and 1955, the best placements in this competition.

After the reform of the German league system with the introduction of the Bundesliga in 1963 and the associated dissolution of the 2nd Oberliga Südwest, TSC Zweibrücken qualified for the regional league . There the team benefited from the merger of the league rivals Phönix Ludwigshafen and TuRa Ludwigshafen to southwest Ludwigshafen , so that the 18th place in the table, which was actually intended as a relegation place, was still enough to keep the league. Also in the next year she occupied the last non-relegation place in front of Sportfreunde Saarbrücken , VfR Kaiserslautern and Germania Metternich , in the summer of 1966, however, after only seven victories of the season, they were relegated from bottom of the table in the amateur league southwest. With relegated Ludwigshafener SC , VfR Kirn and VfR Baumholder , the team fought a duel for promotion, but ended up in third place. Then they were still placed in midfield, before another attack on the 1973/74 season First places took place, but due to the introduction of the 2nd Bundesliga there were no promoters. Behind FK Clausen it was enough for second place. In 1975 the team was relegated, but the amateurs of FK Pirmasens waived their starting place. In the following year, however, the team was hopelessly inferior - due to the withdrawal of the main sponsor at the beginning of the season and the associated emigration of several players - and conceded 131 goals. As bottom of the table , the club was relegated and also ended the following season in the Regional League West Palatinate on a relegation zone. With that, the club said goodbye to higher-class football. After having belonged to the regional league since 2006, the TSC rose again in 2011 to the regional league West Palatinate. A year later, the TSC even had to step into the ninth-class A-Class Pirmasens-Zweibrücken. After being promoted to the district league in 2014, they even made it back to the state league in 2015.
