The Bremen Football Association (BFV) is the umbrella organization of more than 80 football clubs in the state of Bremen with 44,519 members and 1,272 teams. A few of these member associations are based in Lower Saxony . The BFV is the smallest of the 21 regional associations of the DFB and a member of the North German Football Association .
The highest division organized by the BFV is the fifth division Bremen league in the league system of German football . These include the Landesliga Bremen and the district league - which has also been single-track since 2014/15. These three leagues cover Bremen and Bremerhaven .
In Bremen-Stadt there are three district leagues (A, B, C) and three district classes (1, 2 and 3) below the seventh division. In Bremerhaven there is only the district league A and 1st district class.
The BFV is based in Bremen . Björn Fecker is currently president of the association. Jens Dortmann is the association's managing director. In addition to him, the BFV has five full-time employees and one part-time employee. Most of the gaming operations are handled by over 100 volunteers.
The office of the BFV is located in the office towers of the Bremen Weser Stadium.
The association area is divided into three districts (Bremen-Stadt, Bremerhaven and Bremen-Nord).
history
The BFV follows the tradition of the Bremen Football Association . Its official founding date, however, is August 2, 1946, because on that day the Bremen Sports Association received approval from the military government, whose football division later became the BFV. The game-technical unbundling of Lower Saxony took place gradually until 1949. Before and until 1933 Bremen was part of the NFV district Weser-Jade , then until 1945 the NFV was dissolved and Bremen belonged to the Sportgau Lower Saxony .
