history

Today's TuS Schwachhausen goes back to the Schwachhauser Gymnastics Club, which was founded in 1883 . The Horn gymnastics club split off from this club in 1899 and the Schwachhausen-Horn workers gymnastics and sports club split off three years later . In 1922 the Schwachhauser Turnverein merged with the Bremen Ballspielverein to form the BBV Union Bremen . Four years later, the Schwachhausen footballers split up again as the Schwachhausen sports club . In 1945 the Schwachhauser Sportverein and the Schwachhauser Gymnastics Club merged to form today's TuS Schwachhausen.

Men's

The footballers were promoted to the Bremen State League for the first time in 1968 under coach Willi Schröder , which was then the highest amateur league in Bremen. After years of relegation battle and mediocrity, the team was runner-up behind OT Bremen in the 1974/75 season . In the same season , the club took part in the DFB Cup and lost 3-0 to FC 08 Homburg in the first round . For financial reasons, the people of Bremen waived their home rights and played the game in Saarland . In the following years, the team could no longer build on this success.

During the 1970s, merger talks with TuS Vahr failed . In 1980, the football players got out of the now Verbandsliga Bremen -called highest Bremen from division. Four years later, the promotion succeeded, which was followed in 1986 by relegation to the regional league. At the end of the 1990s TuS slipped into the district league and then shuttled between the state and district leagues. In 2008 the TuS rose to the fifth class Bremen league.

Women

The women's team of TuS Schwachhausen became champions in 2016 and qualified for the promotion round to the Regionalliga Nord . There the team failed at FC St. Pauli . Two years later, the team won the Bremen Cup with a 2-1 win over ATS Buntentor and qualified for the DFB Cup. In addition, the team prevailed in the promotion round to Regionalliga Nord against TSC Wellingsbüttel and rose. As the penultimate of the 2018/19 season , the direct relegation followed. In return, the team won the Bremen Cup with a 1-0 victory over ATS Buntentor and thus managed to qualify for the DFB Cup again.
