The BBV Union Bremen was a sports club from the Bremen district of Altstadt . The first soccer team played in Bremen's highest amateur league for 15 years.

history

The club was founded in 1901 as FC Elite Bremen and merged in 1909 with FC Roland Bremen to form Bremer BV . In 1923 this merged with the later newly founded TuS Schwachhausen to form BBV Union Bremen. A year later Union rose for the first time in the top division. In 1928, the team behind VfB Komet and Bremer SV came third in the Weser relay . Five years later, the club missed the qualification for the Lower Saxony Gauliga and rose in 1935 to the third division.

After the Second World War , the BBV rose to the highest Bremen amateur league for the first time in 1959 and stayed there for three years. After two relegations and two ascents in a row, the "Joner" were able to hold out in the amateur league for a longer period from 1965. In 1968 the sporty zenith was reached with fourth place. The 1972 descent was followed by a direct rise again, before the BBV became the elevator team after another descent in 1976 . In the 1982/83 season, the team reached the association league again before crashing into the district league in 1993. On March 6, 1998, the BBV Union merged with Bremen 1860 to form FC Union 60 Bremen .
