    Promotion and German amateur championship

It was the sixth time in a row that the Bremen representative, in this case Bremer SV, could not prevail in the promotion relegation to the Oberliga Nord.

Again this season the amateurs of Werder Bremen were able to qualify for the amateur championship. In the first round, the quarter-finals, Bremen defeated 1. FSV Mainz 05 , the final opponent from three years ago, in both games (2: 1 and 3: 1). In the semifinals, Bremen won the first leg at VfR Mannheim 5-0. The second leg ended 3-2 for Werder. In the final game, Bremen then defeated DSC Wanne-Eickel 3-0. It was the second win of this competition for Bremen after 1966 .
