The FT Geestemünde was a football club from the Bremerhaven district Geestemünde . The first men's team took part in the DFB Cup once. The first women's team took part in the DFB Cup three times .

history

The club was in 1902 by ship carpenters of Tecklenborg - shipyard founded. Until its self-dissolution in 1933, the club belonged to the Workers' Gymnastics and Sports Association . It was re-established in 1948. In the summer of 2014, the association merged with ESV Bremerhaven and SC Schiffdorferdamm to form ESC Geestemünde .

Men's soccer

From the mid-1950s to mid-1970s, succeeded the Free gymnasts four times the rise in the time Verbandsliga mentioned second highest Bremer league. Each time the team had to relegate immediately. Women's soccer

The footballers of the FTG first drew attention to themselves in 1987 when they were promoted to the then first-class Oberliga Nord . After the direct relegation, the free gymnasts were able to qualify for the DFB Cup for the first time in 1988 , where in the first round after a 1: 4 defeat against TuS Ahrbach the end came. Between 1990 and 1992, the team returned to the now second-class Oberliga Nord. In the 1993/1994 women's DFB Cup , the FTG reached the second round after a walk-through and lost 0:12 to Grün-Weiß Brauweiler .
