The Football Oberliga Westfalen 1983/84 was the sixth season of the Oberliga Westfalen . Champion of FC Gütersloh with one point ahead of Eintracht Hamm-Heesen . In the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga Gütersloh was fourth in the northern group and thus missed promotion. Runner-up Hamm-Heesen took part in the amateur championship and lost 4-1 to Offenburger FV in the final . The relegation ranks were occupied by SuS Hüsten 09 and SV Langendreer 04 . VfL Reken and DJK Hellweg Lütgendortmund rose from the association league . Eintracht Hamm-Heesen renamed itself to SC Eintracht Hamm for the 1984/85 season .

The game SpVgg Erkenschwick against FC Gohfeld (1: 0) was rated 2: 0 for Gohfeld due to the use of a player who was not eligible to play. The game 1. FC Paderborn against TuS Schloß Neuhaus had to be stopped after 65 minutes when the score was 0-0 due to a violent thunderstorm and was repeated.
