The football Oberliga Westfalen 1987/88 was the tenth season of the Oberliga Westfalen . The championship was Preußen Münster with 17 points ahead of Westfalia Herne . In the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga , Münster was fourth in the northern group and therefore missed promotion. Runner-up Herne took part in the amateur championship , but was eliminated in the first round against TSV Vestenbergsgreuth . The relegation places were occupied by the amateurs of VfL Bochum , VfL Reken and Rot-Weiss Lüdenscheid . VfB Rheine and Sportfreunde Siegen rose from the association league . Arminia Bielefeld was relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga .
