Football Oberliga Nordrhein 1987/88

The Oberliga Nordrhein 1987/88 was the tenth season of the jointly by the Football Association of the Middle Rhine and the Lower Rhine Football Association conducted Oberliga Nordrhein . The master of the league played similarly to previous years in the promotion round against the champions of the other top leagues for the promotion to the 2. Bundesliga , while the runner-up to participate in the Amateur Championship was justified. From the Oberliga Nordrhein qualified for the promotion rounds of MSV Duisburg , which did not make the promotion. Behind him, the second-placed Black and White Essen qualified for the German amateur championship. SSG Bergisch Gladbach , VfL Rhede and Olympia Bocholt were relegated to the subordinate association leagues Mittelrhein and Niederrhein . For the 1988/89 season they replaced the promoted SC Brück and SV Wermelskirchen , as well as the second division relegated from BVL Remscheid and Rot-Weiß Oberhausen . Thus the league was increased to 19 teams for the coming season.
