The DJK Hellweg Lütgendortmund is a former football club from the Dortmund district of Lütgendortmund . The first team played for seven years in the then third-class Oberliga Westfalen . In 1987 the association was dissolved for financial reasons.

history

The DJK Hellweg Lütgendortmund was founded in 1929. When the National Socialists banned the German youth force six years later , the association had to be forcibly dissolved. It was not until 1955 that the company was re-established. The club initially took part in the DJK's game operations and only switched to the DFB in 1959 . In the 2nd district class he could only very rarely win games and mostly suffered heavy losses. This changed when club president Heinz Jenau hired former national player Gerhard Harpers as coach. Under Harpers in 1966 he was promoted to the district league, which was followed a year later by the march through to the state league .

The club stayed in the regional league until 1971, before returning to the regional league. After the direct resurgence in 1973 succeeded in marching through to the association league , the highest amateur league at the time. This made the DJK Hellweg the sporty number two in the city behind Borussia Dortmund . In the association league, apart from the 1975/76 season, the team always occupied single-digit positions; she qualified in 1978 as fifth for the newly created Oberliga Westfalen. There the team reached sixth place in the 1978/79 season, four points behind champions SC Herford . Since the club did not have a grass pitch, Hellweg had to move to the Rote Erde stadium in the following years , which led to large audience losses. At the same time, the association was targeted by the tax office , which in the following years led to increasing financial burdens.

In sporting terms, the team slowly slipped into the table basement, in 1983 they had to relegate to the association league as a knocked-down bottom of the table with 97 goals conceded. The low point of the season was a 7-1 home defeat against ASC Schöppingen . The direct resurgence was achieved through a 3-2 playoff win after extra time against the amateurs of SG Wattenscheid 09 . After the DJK had barely held the class in 1985 , a year later it was again relegated to the association league. The 7: 6 win against Sportfreunde Siegen was curious . In the following association league season 1986/87 Hellweg was passed through as bottom of the table in the state league. On September 15, 1987, the insolvent association was dissolved.

Successor club FC Hellweg Lütgendortmund

On the same day, a successor club was founded with FC Hellweg Lütgendortmund . So far, this has not gone beyond the district level. The club played from 1996 to 1998, from 2009 to 2012 and since 2018 in the district league A.
