Rudolf "Rudi" Neufeld (born August 8, 1947 ) is a former German soccer player. The offensive player, who came from the youth of SC Westfalia Herne , came in the two rounds 1970/71 and 1971/72 in the team from the Stadion am Schloss Strünkede on 60 appearances in the then second-rate football regional league West and scored eight goals. In the following round at Wuppertaler SV , 1972/73, he came in the Bundesliga under coach Horst Buhtz on three missions, before he won the runner-up in the last year of the second-rate Regionalliga West, 1973/74, with Rot-Weiß Oberhausen and had been in action in another 25 league games and scored a goal. In the first two rounds of the newly introduced 2nd Bundesliga , 1974/75 and 1975/76, Neufeld completed 53 competitive games near Oberhausen and his home club Westfalia Herne (1975/76) and scored five goals.

Athletic career

With the young footballer Rudi Neufeld, Westfalia Herne won the championship in the Association League Westphalia in 1969/70 . Under coach Werner Stahl , Neufeld made 14 appearances in which he scored four goals. Herne won the decisive game against runner-up FV Hombruch on May 10, 1970 in front of 12,000 spectators at the castle with 3: 2, Neufeld stormed alongside the winning goal scorer Fritz Huth . In the promotion round, the Stahl team prevailed against SpVgg Sterkrade 06/07 and rose together with Eintracht Gelsenkirchen to the second division of the Regionalliga West. On August 16, 1970 Neufeld made his debut in a 1-0 away win at DJK Gütersloh on right winger in the Regionalliga West. In his first home game on August 23, Herne reached a 2-2 draw against Fortuna Düsseldorf in front of 8,000 spectators. In the two first round home games against VfL Bochum (2: 1, a goal by Neufeld) in September and against Wuppertaler SV (1: 1) in October, 18,000 spectators each filled the stands in the stadium at Schloss Strünkede. At the end of the round, Herne finished 12th and Neufeld had completed 30 games (1 goal) alongside the new striker Werner Brosda (18 goals).

In the second regional league year, 1971/72, Neufeld's personal record improved to seven goals, but Herne took 14th place and was only able to succeed under the successor of coach Herbert Burdenski (until December 1971), Horst Wandolek from January 1972 Secure relegation. Neufeld stood out as a two-time goalscorer in a 2-2 away draw at Viktoria Köln on April 23, 1972 and ended the round on May 14 with a 2-1 home win against Wattenscheid 09 alongside other players like Dieter Walendi , Theo Homann and Werner Brosda. For the 1972/73 season he signed a license player contract with Wuppertaler SV and moved to the Bundesliga.

The team of coach Horst Buhtz was joined by Ulrich Gelhard (Wattenscheid 09) and Georg Jung (Tasmania 1900 Berlin), two more newcomers, as well as the two youngsters Peter Redder and Klaus Spannenkrebs from their own ranks . The man from Westfalia Herne came on for the first time on October 7, 1972 in a 1: 2 away defeat at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen in the Bundesliga. It was enough to make two more substitutions in the first half of the season against Hertha BSC (4: 1) and against VfB Stuttgart (4: 0), but after that the Bundesliga chapter was over for Rudi Neufeld. Since the WSV completed a first-class round and surprisingly took fourth place, coach Buhtz in principle kept the circle of the regular cast very tight with 12 players, Neufeld, Redder, Spannkrebs and Detlef Webers (8-1) only came to sporadic missions. Gustav Jung and Günter Pröpper ran as storm peaks , Jürgen coal , Bernhard Hermes , Herbert Stöckl and Heinz-Dieter Lömm in midfield and Georg Jung was the first replacement. After a round in Wuppertal, Rudi Neufeld signed with Rot-Weiß Oberhausen for two years and thus took the step back into the Regionalliga West.

In Oberhausen he made his debut under coach Heinz Murach on September 23, 1973 in a 3-2 home win against Preußen Münster on right wing in the regional league team of the Kleeblattvereines vom Niederrhein; Ditmar Jakobs occupied the storm center and Werner Greth stormed on the left wing . At the end of the round RWO reached the runner-up and thus moved into the BL promotion round in 1974; Neufeld had played in 25 league games (1 goal). Surprisingly, the Berlin representatives Tennis Borussia prevailed in the promotion round, with one point ahead of the equal points FC Augsburg and RW Oberhausen. Neufeld was used in all eight promotion games for the west vice. Oberhausen was qualified for the newly starting 2nd Bundesliga from the 1974/75 season, but was not up to the sporting challenge. With 27:49 points, RWO took 18th place under coach Alfred Preißler in the north group and was relegated to the amateur camp. Neufeld had scored two goals in 36 appearances. After relegation, he returned to his home club Westfalia Herne for the 1975/76 season and remained in the 2nd Bundesliga, because Herne had made promotion in 1974/75.

The newcomer reached 10th place, striker Jochen Abel had scored 17 goals in 33 appearances under coach Heinz Murach and returnees Neufeld contributed three goals for Westfalia in 17 second division appearances. In the summer of 1976 Neufeld joined DJK Hellweg Lütgendortmund and thus ended his career in the professional field.
