Peter Redder (born September 25, 1952 ) is a former German soccer player . The midfielder played a total of 170 league games with 23 goals in the Bundesliga (1972–1975) and the 2nd Bundesliga (1975–1980) at Wuppertaler SV from 1972 to 1980 .

Career

Peter Redder was already used by coach Horst Buhtz as an amateur player of the WSV in the Bundesliga. He made his debut with the newly promoted Bundesliga on October 28, 1972, in a 4-1 home win against Hertha BSC, in the stadium at the Zoo in the Bundesliga. In the 83rd minute, the WSV amateur came on for Bernhard Hermes . There were two more substitutions against VfB Stuttgart (4: 0) and 1. FC Kaiserslautern (1: 1). Redder was a supplementary player in this round, as were team- mates Claus Brune , Theodor Homann , Rudi Neufeld , Klaus Spannenkrebs and Detlef Webers . The climber reached the 4th place. In the second Bundesliga year of Wuppertal, 1973/74, Redder was only used on the last game day, May 18, 1974, in the league saving 2-2 at VfB Stuttgart. In the 54th minute he came on for Georg Jung . With the WSV amateurs - including Jürgen Berghaus , Dirk Fiala and Gerhard Pecl - he had won the championship in the district class this season and thus achieved promotion to the national league. When the WSV was relegated to the bottom of the league in 1974/75, Redder had been in 13 Bundesliga games. The relegation could not be prevented by the change of coach from Buhtz to János Bédl in October 1974. On the 34th round match day, June 14, 1975, Wuppertal said goodbye to the Bundesliga with a 3: 3 home draw against 1. FC Kaiserslautern. With Georg Jung and Dirk Fiala, Redder formed the midfield.

He went to the 2nd Bundesliga with the WSV and advanced there behind Lothar Dupke (158 games) with 153 appearances and 23 goals to become the record player in the 2nd division. Redder experienced his best round with the WSV in the 1976/77 season under coach Herbert Burdenski . When he reached 3rd place behind FC St. Pauli and Arminia Bielefeld, he had played in 36 league games and scored eight goals. At the side of other top performers such as team senior Günter Pröpper, Bernhard Hermes, Gerhard Pecl, Lothar Dupke and the two dangerous attackers Rainer Budde (23 goals) and Willi Götz (16 goals), Wuppertal asserted itself in the top games against St. Pauli (1 : 0, 2: 2) and Bielefeld (1: 1, 1: 1) good, but missed the chance of promotion to the Bundesliga in games against midfield and relegation teams. After relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga after the 1979/80 season, Redder had again scored six goals in 31 league games as a midfielder, his higher-class career ended.
