Heinz-Dieter Lömm (born October 18, 1943 in Nesselwang ), often just called Dieter Lömm , is a former German football player .

Career

Until June 1965 Lömm played at BV Altenessen in the Association League Niederrhein.

He began his professional career at FC Schalke 04 in the 1965/66 season. Other newcomers to the “Royal Blues” were Klaus Fichtel , Gerhard Neuser , Alfred Pyka , Josef Elting and Heinz Pliska . The Allgäu made his debut on October 20, 1965 under coach Fritz Langner , when his team lost 3-0 against TSV 1860 Munich on matchday nine . However, he hardly made any appearances afterwards, only between the 17th and the 22nd matchday he came against Tasmania Berlin (2: 1), VfB Stuttgart (2: 0), Karlsruher SC (0: 1) and the 1. FC Köln (0-0) to play.

Because he saw no chance of a regular place, Lömm moved to the Regionalliga West , at that time still the second highest class in Germany, to the promoted Bonner SC . At the BSC, the midfield technician made his debut under coach Günther Glomb and at the side of teammates Uwe Kleina , Werner Grau and Manfred Cremer on August 21, 1966 in a goalless away draw in the stadium at the Zoo against Wuppertaler SV. Lömm completed 32 league games and scored three goals; Bonn rose at the end of the 1966/67 season but from the Association League Middle Rhine and he moved within the league to Arminia Bielefeld . At the start of the round in 1967/68, on August 13, 1967, he formed the trio inside the DSC team, led by coach Hans Wendlandt , in a 2-2 draw at RW Oberhausen with striker Ernst Kuster and Ulrich Braun . Bielefeld finished fourth and Lömm had played 30 league games and scored six goals. After the mediocre season 1968/69 (7th place) Heinz-Dieter Lömm went back to his hometown Essen and signed a contract with Schwarz-Weiß Essen for the 1969/70 round .

At the Uhlenkrug in Essen he met the young coach Horst Witzler and teammates like Rolf Bauerkämper , Wolfgang Glock , Heiko Mertes and goal scorer Rolf Kucharski (20 goals). Lömm completed 33 games (4 goals) for the ETB-Elf and the black and white landed on the fifth place.

For the 1970/71 season, the Wuppertaler SV took him under contract. His time with the "Bergische" (1970 to 1975) became the most successful of his career. Under coach Horst Buhtz he developed into a "hanging left winger" and this became his trademark. The Red-Blue ended their debut round in 1971, just one point behind Bochum and Düsseldorf. In 31 league appearances, the technician who served the team scored three goals in the WSV midfield. His second season at Wuppertal outshone everything. With 111: 23 goals and 60: 8 points - in the home games 33: 1 points - the WSV was superior to champions and Lömm had scored three goals in 33 games himself. Much more important were his assists in interaction with the winger Gustav Jung on the sensational striker Günter Pröpper with 52 goals. The Buhtz protégés were also unstoppable in the promotion round: from eight encounters they achieved the maximum number of points of 16 points; Lömm had played all eight games in the promotion round to the Bundesliga .

With the identical team of the promotion round, the WSV started on September 16, 1972 in the Bundesliga . Manfred Müller in goal, before the defensive chain with Manfred Cremer , Emil Meisen , Erich Miss and Manfred Reichert as well as the midfield with Herbert Stöckl , Jürgen Kohlen , Bernhard Hermes and Lömm and the two top Gustav Jung and Günter Pröpper won on September 16, 1972 with a 2-0 home win against 1. FC Kaiserslautern the first two points. At the end of the round, Wuppertal took fourth place and was thus qualified for the UEFA Cup of the 1973/74 season. Lömm had played 31 league games in the Bundesliga. In the following two rounds, however, the level of performance of the Buhtz protégés fell dramatically. With his goal to 2-2 against VfB Stuttgart in the 82nd minute of the 34th and last match day of the 1973/74 season , which was also his only goal in the German upper house, the midfielder secured his club another year in the Bundesliga. Also in the UEFA Cup they did not survive the first round against Ruch Chorzow (1: 4/5: 4). The WSV finished the third Bundesliga year in 18th place and was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga. The 31-year-old Lömm played his last Bundesliga game on June 7, 1975 in a 0-0 draw in Berlin against Tennis Borussia.

After the WSV was relegated as the second worst relegated team after Tasmania Berlin , he moved to FV Würzburg 04 . After promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga , the veteran came alongside teammates like Friedhelm Groppe , Walter Szaule , Hans Schmidradner and Lothar Emmerich in 1976/77 again to 21 games (1 goal) in the 2nd division and finished in the summer 1977 his professional career.

After the end of his professional career, he moved to the 1977/78 season for Offenburg FV in the South Baden amateur league. The targeted promotion with him as a director in the newly founded Oberliga Baden-Württemberg succeeded. For the 1978/79 season Lömm took over the post of player-coach at the association league club FC 08 Tuttlingen .
