Erich Miss (born March 16, 1948 in Wuppertal ) is a former German football player . From 1972 to 1977 he played a total of 110 games in the Bundesliga (one goal) as a defender for the clubs Wuppertaler SV and VfL Bochum and from 1976 to 1980 for Wuppertal 126 games in the 2nd Bundesliga North (three goals).

Career

Miss began his career in 1967 at Wuppertaler SV in the Regionalliga West . The young player made his debut under coach Kuno Klötzer on December 3, 1967, at the home game against Eintracht Gelsenkirchen, in the regional league. He played in the club's most successful period to date. The defensive player, who came from his own youth department, played a total of 112 league games for the team from the Stadion am Zoo from 1967 to 1972 in the Regionalliga West and scored two goals. He was part of the promotion team in 1971/72 when the WSV prevailed in the promotion round with 16: 0 points and a goal difference of 26: 5 points against VfL Osnabrück , Borussia Neunkirchen , FC Bayern Hof and Tasmania Berlin . Miss and colleagues had previously won the regional league championship in the west with 60: 8 points and 111: 23 goals ahead of Rot-Weiss Essen and Fortuna Köln . Center forward Günter Pröpper scored 52 goals.

In the first Bundesliga season 1972/73 , the promoted team finished fourth behind FC Bayern Munich , 1. FC Cologne and Fortuna Düsseldorf with coach Horst Buhtz , thus qualifying for the UEFA Cup (now the UEFA Europa League ). Erich Miss (33-0) formed mainly with Manfred Cremer (33-5), Emil Meisen (31-0) and Manfred Reichert (34-2) the defensive protection of the attackers Heinz-Dieter Lömm , Gustav Jung and von "Meister -Pröpper ". Miss made his debut with his teammates on the start day of the 1972/73 round, on September 16, 1972, with a 2-0 home win against 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the Bundesliga. In the UEFA Cup, Miss experienced two games in September / October 1973 against the Polish representative Ruch Chorzów . But Chorzwo prevailed with the 4-1 home win against Wuppertal, whose 5-4 win in the second leg no longer made the turnaround possible.

In 1975, Miss moved to VfL Bochum before returning to Wuppertaler SV in 1976, who was playing in the 2nd Bundesliga North at that time. The legendary Bundesliga match against FC Bayern Munich also took place at this time , when Bochum lost 5: 6 after a 4-0 lead.

Others

Miss achieved notoriety when he seriously injured Berti Vogts in a duel in the DFB Cup match against Borussia Mönchengladbach on August 5, 1978 , who then had to end his career.
