Emil Meisen (born November 12, 1939 ) is a former German soccer player . From 1963 to 1972 he played 291 point games and scored five goals at Wuppertaler SV in the then second -rate regional football league West . After the promotion to the Bundesliga in 1972, another 59 league games followed in the Bundesliga .

Career

The original half-striker in the former World Cup system Emil Meisen played in the youth team of TuRU Düsseldorf , in the 1961/62 season with VfL Benrath and in 1962/63 with SV Neukirchen in the 2nd League West. In Benrath he completed 29 and in Neukirchen 28 league games. He also scored three goals in the blue-yellow from the city of Neukirchen-Vluyn . After the new league structure with the Bundesliga and the substructure of the regional leagues, he joined the regional league team Wuppertaler SV for the 1963/64 season . Since the 1963 DFB Cup was played shortly before the start of the round in 1963/64, Meisen was used in the first main round match on July 27, 1963, a replay against KSV Hessen Kassel, for the WSV in a 3-0 win on half left . A 1-0 home win against Borussia Neunkirchen was successful in the quarter-finals on July 31. The first sporting highlight in Wuppertal was the semi-final match against Hamburger SV on August 7th in front of 38,000 spectators in the stadium at the Zoo. The men around Uwe Seeler and Gert Dörfel made it into the final with a narrow 1-0 win. Under coach Robert Gebhardt , he made his regional league debut on August 4, 1963, in a 2-1 home win against Hennes Weisweiler 's Viktoria Köln. The WSV indoor trio consisted of Manfred Reichert , Werner Tönges and Meisen. The red-blue team from the stadium at the Zoo won the runner-up with players such as Günter Augustat , Erich Haase , Günter Jäger , Jürgen Papies , Manfred Reichert and Meisen behind master Alemannia Aachen. Meisen had scored three goals in 37 games. But they lost the two qualifying games to move into the promotion round to the Bundesliga against the Southwest representative FK Pirmasens (0: 2/1: 2).

This was followed by three rounds with single-digit placements, but without a chance to move into the Bundesliga promotion round. Meisen was part of the regular line-up, but changed to the runner row under coach Alfred Preissler . In the third Tainer year of the former Dortmund master player, 1967/68 , the WSV fought with tits to stay in the league. The departures of Augustat, Haase, Papies and Horst Stockhausen could not be compensated and Preißler was replaced by Kuno Klötzer during the first half of the season. With the 15th place in the season of 18 the relegation succeeded. Meisen had played 29 games and Erich Miss made the first steps.

When Horst Buhtz took over the management of training for the 1968/69 season , Meisen and his teammates were on the up again. The former Italian professional showed a good eye with the signing of Reza Adelkhani , Heinz Bonn , Werner Gräber , Hermann Straschitz , Rainer Skrotzki and Herbert Stöckl . The lap result was fifth place. When in the second year, 1969/70, Günter Pröpper was a goalscorer and Gustav Jung was the right winger and flank giver, Emil Meisen played in a top team and for a place in the Bundesliga promotion round. For two laps, 1969/70 and 1970/71 , Wuppertal had to be content with third place.

In the 1971/72 season Meisen was unstoppable with Wuppertaler SV in the Western League. With 111:23 goals and 60: 8 points, the Buhtz-Elf won the championship and moved into the promotion round to the Bundesliga . "Master" Pröpper had won the top scorer's crown with 52 goals. The team won all eight games in the promotion round against the competition of VfL Osnabrück, Borussia Neunkirchen, FC Bayern Hof and Tasmania 1900 Berlin. In the era of the promotion rounds (1964–1974) only the Wuppertal made it. In addition to Meisen, the team included Manfred Müller , Manfred Cremer , Erich Miss , Manfred Reichert , Bernd Hermes , Herbert Stöckl , Jürgen Coal , Detlef Webers , Gustav Jung , Günter Pröpper and Heinz-Dieter Lömm . Meisen played a technically strong Libero in front of the good goalkeeper Manfred Müller, Vorstopper Miss mostly successfully fought the opposing goal scorers, Cremer and Reichert were attacking full-backs, the midfield with Stöckl, Coal, Hermes and the "hanging left winger" Lömm was running strong and combination safe In the attack, Jung served in series the flanks for the header strong Pröpper.

Meisen played his last two years at Wuppertaler SV in the Bundesliga. In the first year, 1972/73 , he qualified for the UEFA Cup with fourth place. The 33-year-old Libero had directed the defensive in 31 games and striker Pröpper with his 21 goals also proved his scoring risk in the Bundesliga. In the second year, 1973/74, this success could not be continued. In the first round of the UEFA Cup came an early end against Ruch Chorzów from Poland. At the end of the season, relegation could only be avoided on the last day of the match, May 18, 1974, with a 2-2 draw at VfB Stuttgart. The point win led to a tie with SC Fortuna Köln, and the better goal difference kept the Oberbergische in class. The age of the top performers Meisen (* 1939), Reichert (* 1940) and Pröpper (* 1941) had become noticeable.

At his youth club TuRU Düsseldorf, Meisen let his career end from 1974/75.
