The SV Neukirchen (full name: Spielverein Neukirchen 21 eV ) is a sports club from Neukirchen-Vluyn . Between 1961 and 1963 the club played for two years in the 2nd League West , at that time the second highest division.
history
The association was founded in 1921 and had only achieved local successes until the Second World War . In the years 1941 and 1942, the club made with the club Post SV Moers the wargame community Neukirchen-Moers . After the Niederrheinische Bergwerks AG, in the person of Paul Hofmann, campaigned for the club from 1946 onwards, the game club's most successful period began.
In 1949 the team rose to the Landesliga Niederrhein , the highest amateur league at the time. After a runner-up in 1952, the Neukirchener missed qualification for the newly created Association League Niederrhein in 1956 after a league reform . A year later, the game club managed to return to the Lower Rhine Upper House. In 1961 , the club secured the Lower Rhine Championship after a 2-1 win in the playoff against VfB Lohberg . Second in the promotion round behind Siegburger SV 04 and ahead of Germania Datteln , the game club made it to the 2nd League West.
In the 1961/62 season , the team immediately finished sixth and beat well-known clubs like VfL Bochum and Rot-Weiss Essen at home . Against Essen, the club record, which is still valid today, was set with 13,000 spectators. A year later , the game club missed the leap into the newly created Regionalliga West as thirteenth .
After relegation, the team stayed in the Niederrhein Association League for two years and was relegated to the Landesliga in 1965. In 1970 he was promoted to the association league again, but after a year it went back to the national league. The fall in the district league followed in 1978. In the 2009/10 season, the game club was champion of the district league and rose to the state league. Two years later, the sporting crash began again. In the 2012/13 season, the team played again in the district league, but did not manage to stay in the league and has since participated in the district game operation.
