Thomas Geist (born July 20, 1964 ) is a German football coach . Mainly active in German amateur football, he briefly trained in 2010 in the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Premijer League .

Career

Geist played in the youth of SV Neukirchen , but a sports accident slowed his active career. Later he was the club's youth coach himself. In November 1989, at the age of 25, he took up his first men's coaching position at TuS Preußen Vluyn in the district league B. In 1990 he interned briefly at West Ham United . Until 1993 he had led Prussia in the district league before he left the club two years later to work in a higher class. He worked as an assistant coach at VfB Homberg until 1997 and was also a youth coach again. In 2000 he took over as head coach at the club, which he was in charge of until 2003. He then went to SV Straelen , where he was manager and trainer at the same time until 2006. Later he coached the national league club SV Sonsbeck .

Through Slobodan Komljenović and the consultants Mohamed Zukić and Savo Gazija, who are active in Germany, Geist came into contact with FK Laktaši in early 2010 . At the time, the team was beaten at the bottom of the table in the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Premijer Liga. With the club he received a contract until the end of the season and he began training for the UEFA A license . Under his leadership, the team climbed a non-relegation zone until the end of the season, but the club did not receive a license for the coming season.

In the fall of 2010, Geist took over the coaching position at the state division club SV Neukirchen after the former coach died unexpectedly. From summer 2011 Geist trained the Lower Rhine division SV Straelen and, at the same time, their U-19 offspring. In 2012 he took over the Lower Rhine upper division Hamborn 07 , with whom he was relegated to the state league. In November 2013 he became the new coach of the district division FC Moers-Meerfeld .

From the 2014/15 season, Thomas Geist trained his former club SV Sonsbeck again , with which he was relegated from the Oberliga Niederrhein to the regional league. In October 2015 he gave up his coaching position. In the second half of the 2015/16 season he was responsible for the A-district division FC Moers-Meerfeld , which he led to promotion to the district league.
