The SV Sonsbeck is a sports club from Sonsbeck in the Wesel district . The first men's soccer team played in the fifth-class Oberliga Niederrhein from 2012 to 2015 .

history

The association was founded on June 3, 1919. A few years later he joined the club DJK Teutonia Sonsbeck . After the dissolution of the DJK Teutonia, SV Sonsbeck was re-established.

Soccer

For decades, SV Sonsbeck only played at district level and in 1980 made it to the district league for the first time. During the 1987-88 season the team met in the second round of the Niederrhein Cup on MSV Duisburg and lost with 0: 5th Ten years later, he was promoted to the regional league for the first time , before reaching the Niederrhein association league in 2004 .

With one point behind the Cronenberger SC , the direct relegation followed. It took until 2010 before the Sonsbeckers succeeded in being promoted back to what is now the Lower Rhine League. Two years later, they qualified for the Oberliga Niederrhein, from which the Sonsbeckers had to relegate in 2015.

SV Sonsbeck also has a successful track and field division, in which women runners in particular achieved success.

At the German Athletics Championships, Elisabeth Franzis won the bronze medal in the 3,000 meter run in 1982 and the silver medal in 1983. In 1985 she won the bronze medal in cross-country skiing (2.8 km) and in 1986 she became German champion (2.3 km) in this discipline.

In 2012, the team Melanie Buil, Judith Joosten and Stefanie Katschak reached 6th place at the German Athletics Championships over the 6.2 km course in the women's cross country.
