The Cronenberger SC (CSC) is a football club on the Wuppertal south heights . One of the club's greatest successes is the 1952 runner-up in the German Amateur Championship . In March 2011 the association had around 430 members.
history
On July 5, 1902, the sports club was launched in Cronenberg . The first board consisted of the 1st chairman city secretary Breuer, the 2nd chairman Alexander Wüster, the secretary Gustav Evertsbusch, the 1st cashier Peter Gersteuer and the 2nd cashier Rendant Heinrich Schnatz. Equipment attendant was Carl Greis Jr. In 1904 the CSC played its first competitive game in Solingen against the ball sports club Solingen in 1898 in black and yellow jerseys and black pants. The outfit was only changed in 1911 to the green and white that is still valid today. As early as 1919 a youth department with three youth and three student teams was founded.
Over the years, in addition to the football department, other departments were founded, in particular for the sports of hockey , boxing , roller sports , handball and basketball , which have since been gradually outsourced. The outsourced division of roller hockey can be found today again in the multiple German champions RSC Cronenberg .
Sporting successes came very quickly. 1921 CSC were runner-up from Bergisch-Mark after a 3: 4 defeat in extra time against Duisburger SpV . The sports club experienced a record attendance in 1947. Over 4,000 spectators watched the championship game against Fortuna Düsseldorf (0: 4) with Paul Janes . Due to the very good audience participation, the matches against city rivals Grün-Weiß Wuppertal were moved to the Wuppertal stadium at the zoo in 1950 (8,000 and 14,000 spectators).

After the end of the war , the CSC quickly resumed gaming. The most successful period of the sports club followed. In 1951 he took part in the semi-finals of the German amateur championships in 1951 as Niederrheinmeister . In the stadium at the zoo they lost 2-0 to the future amateur champions Bremen in 1860 . Just a year later, the two teams faced each other again in Wuppertal. But this time the CSC won the match with a 1-0 win. The subsequent final of the German amateur championship in 1952 was lost 2: 5 against VfR Schwenningen . Over 80,000 spectators followed this game in Ludwigshafen's Südweststadion . Herbert Jäger , Paul Wansel, Helmut Bogkmann, Edmund Dapprich, Reinhold Dyckers, Karl Rauhaus, Erich Streup, Siegfried Wellner, Willi Kunze, Günter Görts, Edwin Schulz played for the Cronenberger SC .
After the rise in 1957 in the highest amateur class and the direct relegation in 1958, the CSC went through a period of different affiliations in the state league and district league . In 1993, Holger Fach , who was active at the Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach at the time, took over as coach of the first team for four years. At the same time, the artificial turf pitch on the main road was completed (the second in Wuppertal ). Under Bernd Bever, who was on the sidelines from 1998 to 2005, one year after the centenary he was promoted to the Niederrhein Association League . Curiosities on the side: In the semifinals of the ARAG Cup 2005 between the CSC and local rivals SSV Sudberg , the guest only prevailed after three hours of total play and 48 penalties. From 2006 to 2009, the CSC played under coach Bert Holthausen in the association league and even knocked on the gate to the Oberliga Nordrhein in 2006 , ultimately finishing fourth with only one point behind the champions at the end of this season. In the 2008/09 season, he was relegated to the national league. In May 2008 the Horst Neuhoff sports field was covered with a new artificial turf surface. From 2010 to 2016 the first team in the Landesliga Niederrhein (Group 1) was looked after by coach Markus Dönninghaus, who was promoted to the top division with her twice (2013 and 2016).
At the end of March 2011 it was announced that the CSC and SSV Sudberg had started talks to merge the two clubs. The votes of the respective association members were still pending, the respective annual general meetings should take place in September 2011. The talks were broken off in July 2011. The negotiations were declared to have failed after the respective annual general meetings and member surveys.
In the 2012/13 season , the CSC played for one year in the fifth-class Oberliga Niederrhein , but rose again because of the eight goals worse goal difference compared to SV Uedesheim from Neuss when there was a tie. After three years in the regional league, the club is back in the major league for the 2016/17 season , having finished second in the Lower Rhine regional league in 2015/16 and defeating 1. FC Kleve with a total of 4: 1 in the promotion relegation won two games. Two years later, the Cronenberger went down again, but managed to get back up straight away.

offspring
For many years the youth department has played with all possible teams from D to A juniors in the performance class of District 3 (Wuppertal-Niederberg). In 2015, in addition to the championship in the district performance class, the A-youth also won the district cup. In 2016, the sports club was able to report another success with the promotion of the C-Juniors to the Lower Rhine League. Only one year later, with the C, B and A youth, all three possible teams are in the qualification for promotion to the respective Lower Rhine league.
Since the introduction of the Bergisch performance class, the Cronenberger SC has also been successful in this league in all possible age groups.
Various youth players from the CSC's youth teams have repeatedly made the leap into district and association selection teams as well as into the highest German youth league classes , for example Julian Kray (U 15 Regionalliga West for Schwarz-Weiß Essen - today Oberliga SSVg Velbert) and Len Heinson (U17 junior Bundesliga for Fortuna Düsseldorf - today Regionalliga West Wuppertaler SV). Or Luke Retterath (U15 - Regionalliga Fortuna Düsseldorf ), Samuel Laurin Derkum (U17 Bundesliga SG Unterrath) and FVN selection as well as Leon Fiore (U17 Bundesliga Rot-Weiss Essen ) also FVN selection, Kevin Heesch and Robert Körber (both B-youth Bundesliga Wuppertaler SV ).
The successful youth concept has paid off in recent years. Numerous youth players managed to join the CSC's top division team.
Horst Neuhoff sports field
All youth and senior teams of the Cronenberger SC play their home games on the Horst-Neuhoff-Sportplatz , named after a long-time board member, on the main street. In 2008, after 17 years, the artificial turf was replaced with the latest generation.
Hans-Rötzel tournament
Every year the Cronenberger SC plays the Hans Rötzel tournament for C youth teams. With this, the association honors a member who has rendered outstanding services to the CSC over the years. The city of Wuppertal honored Cronenberger, who was so committed to his district, at the suggestion of the district council in 2000 by naming a street.
In 1974 - one year after the sudden death of Hans Rötzel, born in 1930 - a youth competition for C-youth teams at the CSC was launched at the suggestion of Robert Dörken. At the first tournament in 1974, VfB Remscheid, SSV Germania 1900, Bayer Wuppertal and Cronenberger SC competed.
In addition to the traditional C youth tournament on Corpus Christi, the “Rötzel Days” now also include tournaments for D and E youth teams as well as F and G junior meetings on the following weekend.
