Uwe Stöver (born February 8, 1967 in Wuppertal ) is a former German soccer player and coach and today's functionary .

Player career

Stöver came to Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 1989 via SV Borussia Wuppertal and Cronenberger SC . On February 27, 1993 he made his debut in the Bundesliga and won the DFB Cup with the “Werkself” in the same season . After the end of the season he moved to VfL Bochum in the second division . Here he became a regular player and rose to the Bundesliga as a champion in 1994 . After a year in the first class with Bochum, Stöver left the club again and went to the second division club 1. FSV Mainz 05 for the 1995/96 season , with whom he narrowly missed promotion in 1997 . Stöver was active as a player for the Rheinhessen until 1999 .

Coaching career

In the 1998/99 season Stöver acted as a coach of the A-youth and from 2000/01 the amateurs at FSV Mainz 05, for which he had previously worked as head of marketing. In summer 2001 he left the 05er for 1. FC Kaiserslautern to work there as a youth coach. On September 3, 2001, Stöver replaced Michael Dusek as coach of the amateurs. He held this position until September 2003. From April 2005 to the end of the 2004/05 season he was once again the interim coach of the second team when the previous coach, Hans-Werner Moser, became an interim coach for the professionals. From September 2003 to October 2007, Stöver was the head of the FCK Young Talent Center.

Managerial career

On November 1, 2007, Stöver became Managing Director of Sport at the then second division club SV Wehen Wiesbaden . On March 23, 2009, he was released from his duties. His employment contract was terminated on June 30, 2009. From the beginning of the 2009/10 season he worked in the same position at FSV Frankfurt . There he was released after the 33rd match day of the 2014/15 season . On December 4, 2015, Stöver became the new sports director at the third division Holstein Kiel . On May 15, 2016, he moved again to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the same position, which he left at the end of the season.

On October 1, 2017, Stöver took over the post of General Manager Sport at FC St. Pauli . His contract ran until 2021. On April 10, 2019, he was released from work with head coach Markus Kauczinski . On October 7, 2019, Stöver again became sports director and vice-president member of the three-person presidium at the second division Holstein Kiel.
