The BSV 07 Schwenningen is a football club from Villingen-Schwenningen in Baden-Württemberg .

history

Club coat of arms of VfR Schwenningen

FC 07 Schwenningen was founded on December 1, 1907, and FC Viktoria 08 Schwenningen the following year . These two clubs merged in 1922 to form VfR Schwenningen .

Club coat of arms of the predecessor club SC Schwenningen

Another predecessor of the BSV 07 is SC Schwenningen , founded in 1925.

Up until the outbreak of the Second World War , both VfR Schwenningen and SC Schwenningen recorded a constant upward trend, which was demonstrated by the fact that the VfR footballers succeeded in moving up to the Gauliga Württemberg , the top football class at the time , in 1937 . However, this first season ended bottom of the table with relegation.

After the Second World War, all sports clubs were dissolved by the Allies. In 1946, all Schwenningen sports activities were combined in the VfL Schwenningen club , including the ice hockey players of the Schwenningen ERC for a time . The footballers of the VfL played from 1946 to 1950 in the group south of the Oberliga Südwest . Then the ways parted and both VfR Schwenningen and SC Schwenningen became independent again.

In the post-war period, the two Schwenningen teams played in the highest amateur leagues. VfR Schwenningen was usually the more successful team. So the VfR won in 1952 the title of the German Amateur champion when he in the final in Ludwigshafen the Cronenberger SC 5: beat two gates. On June 24, 1974, the clubs SC Schwenningen and VfR Schwenningen finally merged to form BSV 07 Schwenningen .

The amateur championship team from 1952

In the second year after the merger to BSV 07 Schwenningen, the club rose to the 2nd Bundesliga , but the Schwenninger only played there for one season. In that year, towards the end of his career, Vice World Champion Helmut Haller also played for the BSV, but he only made two appearances. After relegation from the second division in 1977 and the missed qualification for the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg , which was founded in 1978/79, the club's descent began, leading down to the district league . There the BSV won the championship in the 2008/09 season and thus rose to the seventh-class national league. But the BSV just missed relegation, but could celebrate the return to the state league at the end of 2010/11. After repeatedly commuting between the regional and regional leagues, they played in the regional league again after relegating the regional league in 2017. In 2019 they were even relegated to the district league A.
