Wolfgang Lex (born October 23, 1946 in Bächingen ) is a former German football player . During his career as an active member of TSV 1860 Munich, he played a total of 30 times in the Bundesliga . In addition, he played 51 times with Hannover 96 and BSV Schwenningen in the 2nd Bundesliga and from 1970 to 1974 99 times with 1860 Munich in the Regional Football League South .

Career

Wolfgang Lex played as a professional for the clubs TSV 1860 Munich , Hannover 96 and BSV Schwenningen . The amateur player from FC Gundelfingen came to the "Lions" in Munich for the 1967/68 round. Other newcomers to coach Albert Sing's team were Hans-Günther Kroth and Max Reichenberger . Lex celebrated his debut in the Bundesliga on March 16, 1968 in a 6-0 home win against Alemannia Aachen. He completed a total of four round games at the side of the top performers Petar Radenković , Manfred Wagner , Wilfried Kohlars and Željko Perušić and in 1860 took 12th place. In his second "lion" season, 1968/69, he was not used again. When Lex made the breakthrough as a regular player in the third year, 1969/70, with 26 league games and two goals - alongside Radenkovic, Horst Blankenburg , Rudolf Zeiser , Klaus Fischer - the 1966 champion rose 17th out of the Bundesliga from. In this round, Franz Binder had unsuccessfully replaced coach Fritz Langner on November 13, 1969. The defender played the last Bundesliga game on May 3, 1970 in a 0-0 home draw against Rot-Weiss Essen.

Lex stayed with TSV 1860 Munich even after the crash in the second division and played from 1970 to 1974 with the "lions" in the regional soccer league south. Under coach Hans Tilkowski he belonged to the regular cast in the rounds of 1970/71 (4th place) and 1971/72 (3rd place). Even under coach Elek Schwartz , he made 25 league appearances in 1972/73 when Munich again took third place in 1860. In the last year of the old regional league second division, 1973/74, he was no longer part of the regular squad under coach Rudi Gutendorf and therefore changed in the summer of 1974 - now the newly created 2. Bundesliga represented the foundation of the Bundesliga in two seasons -, to Hannover 96 in the 2nd League North.

He celebrated the championship in the 2nd Bundesliga 1974/75 with the "Reds" off the leash and thus promotion to the Bundesliga. In 25 missions he had scored two goals as a defender. In the Bundesliga round 1975/76 he was not used and moved to the Black Forest to the second division promoted BSV Schwenningen. There were a further 26 league appearances in the 1976/77 season, but the BSV was relegated to the amateur camp as 20th without a chance.

Wolfgang Lex is a trained industrial mechanic . After his career, he worked from 1978 as a REFA specialist at GWF Mengele GmbH in Günzburg .
