The FC Gundelfingen is a sports club from the north Swabian town of Gundelfingen on the Danube .

history

The club was founded on February 27, 1921 under the name FC Gundelfingen as a football club . A year earlier, a small number of 19 to 20-year-old footballers bought a football and called it a "forest and meadow club" with a large portion of idealism organized football in Gundelfingen. On December 4, 1921, the FC footballers joined the TV Gundelfingen, from March 1, 1924, the FCG was independent again due to the "clean separation between gymnastics and sport". Later came the departments of table tennis (1935), chess (1947), ice sports (1956), athletics (1960), sailing (1964), swimming (1966), gymnastics (1967), fistball (1969), tennis (1970), hiking (1973), skiing (1978), dance sport (1989), volleyball (1993) and squash (1995).

The most successful division is that of the footballers, who qualified for the first main round of the DFB Cup in 1992 and lost 1-0 to the Bundesliga club Bayer 05 Uerdingen at the time . In 1993 the club rose via relegation with a 3-2 win after a penalty shoot-out against TSV Eching for the first time in the then third-class Bayernliga and stayed there until 1997. In the 2015/16 season, the Gundelfingen champions of the Landesliga Südwest and got into the Bayernliga Süd. However, the team only stayed there for a year and immediately had to relegate.

The A and B juniors were also represented in the Bayernliga Süd. The A-Juniors won the title of Bavarian Futsal Champion in 2018 after defeating FC Augsburg in the final. Before that, they were successful in the semifinals against TSV 1860 Munich. In the southern German title fights they came second and secured the title in the Landesliga Süd outdoors. The team thus qualified for the single-track Bayern League, from which they had to relegate at the end of the 2018/19 season.

Since the 2013/14 season, the youth department of FC Gundelfingen has had the official status of a youth performance center (NLZ) of the Bavarian Football Association. Every year, the association reviews the work that is done in the NLZ with players aged U12 to U17 and then decides whether the partnership with the club will continue.
