The 1st roller hockey Bundesliga is the highest German league in roller hockey .

history

The league was founded in 1967. Founding members were VfL Marl-Hüls , RSC Frankfurt , SpVgg Herten , Germania Herringen , TSG 1846 Darmstadt , RESG Walsum , Stuttgart ERC and IGR Remscheid . Since roller hockey was traditionally played on outdoor lanes, the championship season began in spring until 1991 and ended in autumn. In 1991/92 a season was held over the winter months for the first time, as currently. all games could be played in halls.

The title holder of the 2016/17 season was ERG Iserlohn , which won the title for the ninth time. In the 2019/20 season, Germania Herringen was the title holder for the fifth time after the 2012/13, 2013/14, 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons.

mode

The number of teams was increased by one to 12 teams for the 2016/17 season. A play-off round follows a preliminary round with 22 match days, in which each club plays a home and an away game against each opponent. There, the German champions will be determined from among the eight best placed teams in the quarter, semi-finals and final. The winner per round is determined according to the "Best of three" mode. The championship round 2019/2020 was held with 9 teams.

German champions since 1905

With the exception of 8 seasons, the German roller hockey champion has been officially played since 1909. From 1905 to 1908 there were still unofficial championships. Before the first roller hockey league started in 1967, the German champions were chosen from among the top-ranked clubs in the German top leagues. The record champion with 16 titles is RESG Walsum , the reigning champion is SK Germania Herringen .
