The SC Velbert (officially: Sportclub Velbert eV 2004 ) is a football club from Velbert in the Mettmann district . The club was created in 2003 through the merger of the clubs Borussia Velbert and TVG Langenhorst . The first team has played in the Oberliga Niederrhein since promotion in 2018 .

history

Borussia Velbert parent club

The Borussia Velbert club was founded in 1906. In the 1939/40 season , the Borussia reached the promotion round to the then first-class Gauliga Niederrhein , but failed there at VfR Ohligs . After the end of the Second World War , the Velberters played in the seasons 1953/54 and 1955/56 in the state league , which at that time formed the highest amateur league in the Lower Rhine region. The Niederrhein Association League , introduced in 1956, was missed.

Main club TVG Langenhorst

In January 1954 the club was founded as SC Velbert Nord . In mid-1955 the name was changed to SC Langenhorst . In 1997 there was a merger with TVG 1887 Velbert to form TVG Langenhorst . In terms of sport, the Langenhorsters reached the district league.

After the merger

The SC Velbert started in the 2003/04 season in the district league. There the team was runner-up in 2005 and 2007 behind SV Essen-Burgaltendorf and FSV Vohwinkel . In 2009 he was promoted to the national league. After third places in 2015 and 2016, the Velbert team were runner-up behind TSV Meerbusch in 2018 and were promoted to the Niederrhein Oberliga for the first time. There was the first local derby with SSVg Velbert in the 2018/19 season . The sports club won both league games in front of around 2000 spectators (1-0 and 2-1).

Stadion

The venue of SC Velbert is the BLF-Arena . Originally the sports field was called Böttinger-Platz .
