The Lower Rhine Football Regional League 1955/56 was the ninth and final season of the highest amateur class in the area of the Lower Rhine Football Association under the name of the State League . The Landesliga Niederrhein was located below the 2nd League West and divided into three groups. The VfB Speldorf was Niederrhein champion in 1956, rose to the 2nd League West and represented the Niederrhein in the subsequent German amateur championship .

For the 1956/57 season, the Niederrhein Football Association set up the single-track association league as the new top division in its association area. A total of 16 clubs from the three national league groups qualified for the new association league. All other clubs remained in the fourth-class national league .
