history
The club was founded on July 21, 1900 as the game and sports club Germania Duisburg . On August 2, 1924, this merged with FC Vorwärts Duisburg to form the Duisburger Sport-Club 1900 . He was joined in 1927 by the eight-year-old, later “ football god ” Toni Turek , who in 1938 moved to the neighboring Gauligist Duisburger TuS 1848/99. In 1931, the footballers were promoted to the then first-class Niederrhein district league . Two years later, the Gauliga Niederrhein was introduced as the new top division . However, the DSC 1900 was not accepted into the second class district class and slipped into third class. This remained, apart from 1934 to 1936, the sporting home of the team until the end of the Second World War .
After the end of the war, the DSC initially played in the district class and in 1948 had to go to the district class. After the direct resurgence in 1952 runner-up behind 1. FC Styrum . Three years later, the Duisburg champions were promoted to the state league , which was the highest amateur league at the time. In the national league season 1955/56 it was about the qualification for the newly created Verbandsliga Niederrhein , which the DSC narrowly missed as seventh in the table. Until 1959, the team held in the state league before it went back to the district class. There the team managed to gain direct promotion.
The Wanheimerorter stayed in the regional league for four years before returning to the district class in 1964. At that time the DSC was negotiating a merger with the Duisburg FV 08 , but this was rejected by the members of the DSC. After several unsuccessful attempts, the promotion to the regional league was not successful until 1968. In the summer of 1969 the name was changed to Duisburger Spielverein 1900 . The background was the merger of the Duisburger Spielverein with TuS Duisburg 48/99 to form Eintracht Duisburg five years earlier. Many supporters of the game club rejected the merger and turned to the DSC 1900.
In the very first season under the new name, DSV came fourth in the regional league. Nevertheless, in 1973 it went back to the district class. At the same time, the club moved into its current venue in the district sports facility Düsseldorfer Straße. In 1975, the team of coach Günter Brocker was on the verge of being promoted back to the regional league, but lost the game against the tied team from SuS 09 Dinslaken with 0: 2. Finally, in 1981, the DSV made the leap into the regional league, which became the club's sporting home in the 1980s. Financial difficulties led to relegation to the district league in 1994. It was not until 2006 that they were promoted to the regional league, where the club still plays today.
