Helmut Balke (born November 22, 1949 in Hamborn ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Helmut Balke was a midfielder in various clubs between 1968 and 1985 and played a total of 304 games in the 2nd Bundesliga , of which 236 were played in the then 2nd Bundesliga North . He quickly developed into a high performer with all teams and came up with a large number of assignments.

After his youth in the district league at the Duisburg district club Hamborn 90 , he moved to local rivals Hamborn 07 in 1969 , before moving to Preußen Münster in the then second-class regional league in 1972 . From 1974 he played continuously in the 2nd Bundesliga North, including for Arminia Bielefeld , where he was in a team with Jürgen Gelsdorf and Ewald Lienen .

However, he became legendary at Alemannia Aachen for which he played 195 games. He achieved the best placement in the 1980/81 season when he reached fifth place with the Alemannia and reached the last sixteen in the DFB Cup . MSV Duisburg was even more successful when the season ended in third place in 1984 and they lost in the relegation games against Eintracht Frankfurt .

After his career, Helmut Balke worked as an employee; He was also a coach at Duisburger SV 1900 and the A-Juniors at SuS 09 Dinslaken
