The Association League Niederrhein 1976/77 was the 21st season of the Association League Niederrhein , which from 1957 to 1978 was the top division in the Lower Rhine amateur football of men. Until 1978, this league, together with the Mittelrhein and Westphalia association leagues , formed the substructure of the 2nd Bundesliga and was third-class in the German football league system of that time .

Season end

The amateurs of Fortuna Düsseldorf became Lower Rhine champions, but were not allowed to participate in the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga as a reserve of a Bundesliga club . The table runner-up and last year's champions 1. FC Bocholt took part in the promotion round and made the leap into the 2nd Bundesliga .

The amateurs from Fortuna Düsseldorf instead took part in the 1977 German amateur championship as representatives from the Lower Rhine region and won the title. In addition to second division relegated 1. FC Mülheim , which was passed through to the Lower Rhine regional league, the sports fans Katernberg and Langenberger SV were also relegated . ASV Wuppertal , Gelria Geldern and VfB 03 Hilden rose from the national leagues for the new season .
