Perú metro station
The Perú metro station is a station on Line A of the Subterráneos de Buenos Aires and was opened on December 1, 1913 , together with the Plaza de Mayo - Plaza Miserere section, as the first of the network. The subway station is located at the western end of Plaza de Mayo under the intersection of Avenida de Mayo and the eponymous Calle Perú. There are transfer options to the underground stations Bolívar (line E) and Catedral (line D).
history
Perú Metro Station is part of the opening section of the first Buenos Aires metro line between Plaza de Mayo and Plaza Miserere . The station received two side platforms. The entrances are in the middle of the platform, two on the surface on the north and south side of the street of Avenida de Mayo. The walls are tiled in white to this day, the metal supports and the decorative strips are colored brown.
For the 75th anniversary of the opening of line A in 1988, the station was restored in the style of the beginning of the 20th century. These included the ticket offices, barriers, lamps, advertising posters from 1913 and the original signs at the street entrances. In 1997 the metro station was classified as a national historical monument (monumento histórico nacional) .
Between 2007 and 2008 the concessionaire Metrovías carried out a renovation, among other things all tiles were replaced and the advertising posters attached in 1988 were removed. Various details of the anniversary restoration also disappeared. In 2008, the pedestrian tunnel to the neighboring Catedral station was given a reproduction of a Mafalda comic, and in May 2009 Metrovías added historical photographs from Line A.
The installation of elevators for passengers with reduced mobility is being considered.
Connection
At the underground station you can change to numerous buses (colectivos) as well as to the Subte lines D ( Catedral station ) and E ( Bolívar station ).
