Piedras underground station
The Piedras Metro Station is a station on Line A of the Subterráneos de Buenos Aires and was opened together with the Plaza de Mayo - Plaza Miserere section as the first of the network on December 1, 1913. The subway station is located at the intersection of Avenida de Mayo and the eponymous Calle Piedras. Like the train station, the street is named after the battle of the Río de Las Piedras ( Salta ) in 1812 in the War of Independence between the Spanish Kingdom and the United Provinces of the Río de la Plata .
history
Piedras Metro Station is part of the section of the first Buenos Aires metro line between Plaza de Mayo and Plaza Miserere . Like all normal through stations, the station received two side platforms. To distinguish it from the other stations, the station furniture was painted dark green. The walls are tiled in white to this day.
In 1997 the metro station was classified as a national historical monument (monumento histórico nacional) .
